For 18 years, Ed Smith
Stadium has been the site of Spring Training baseball in Sarasota.
The stadium opened in 1989 and was originally the training location
for the Chicago White Sox. The Cincinnati Reds moved to Sarasota
from Plant City in 1998. Ed Smith Stadium has a seating capacity of
7,500 and is home to the Florida State League's, Sarasota Reds
during the summer. After 2009, the Reds will move to Glendale, AZ
where they will share a new ballpark with the Cleveland Indians. |
